Cultural Emersion Series

World Arts Camp

  • Session 1 June 22 – June 26
  • Session 2 June 29 – July 2
  • Session 3 July 6 – July 10
  • Session 4 July 13 – July 17, Session 5 August 3 – August 7 (Children ages 5-13 may enroll)
  • Session 6 August 10 – August 14 (Children ages 5-13 may enroll)
Ages 7-13, $200 per week

A world of art is waiting for participants to experience creativity from many perspectives and mediums. The mornings introduce artists and their work in visual and fine arts, including art history and visits to local art studios. Participants create projects inspired from these interactions. In the afternoon, guest artists share workshops and performances, including African, Modern, Hip Hop and Hoop Dance.

Exploring Cultures of Africa and Latino America: Session 1

  • June 22 – July 2
Ages 5-7 and ages 8-13, $400 for two weeks

Children will learn the lyrics to music of several African and Latino countries, as well as, drum with Djembe, Dununba, Kenkeni and Sangban. They will discover the Dances and Folklore native to Central America, South America and Africa.

Exploring Cultures of Africa and Latino America: Session 2

  • July 22 – July 17
Ages 5-7 and ages 8-13, $800 for four weeks

Children will deepen knowledge of African and Latin American cultures through daily dance, drum, and song. There will be traditional games and stories with art projects shared during this four week camp. Exploring Cultures Performance: July 17 at 5:30pm. Tickets $5. Children 13 & under free.

Performing Arts Series

Creativity Explored

  • July 20-July 31
Ages 5-7, $400 for two weeks

Young movers learn the creative process through movement, dramatic play, music and song. A variety of movement styles from tumbling and creative movement to Capoeira will be infused in this two-week session.

Dance Theater Intensive

  • July 20-August 14
  • July 20-July24, July 27-July 31
Ages 8-10 and ages 11-13, $800 for four weeks, $200 per week

Participants will be actively immersed in the theater arts including dance, vocals, and spoken word to build skills, awareness and confidence. The 4-week theater experience will culminate with a performance that includes original work by students and material created by guest artists. Dance Theater Intensive Performance: August 14 at 5:30pm. Tickets $5. Children 13 & under free.

Program Information

The camp day begins at 9:00AM and ends at 3:00PM.  The weekly rate is $200 for all camps.  There are no discounts, but limited financial aid is available until May 1.  Financial Aid applications will not be accepted without TAX FORMS.

Registration forms must be submitted with full payment or a $25 deposit per camp for each child. The deposit is non-refundable and applied to the camp fee.

Early drop-off (7:30AM) is available for no charge.  After care requires registration at least one week in advance (exceptions may apply).  The rate is $50 per week regardless of the number of days.  Children who are registered for after care must be picked up by 6:00PM.

There will be no programming on the Friday, July 3rd.

Pool Information

Children will swim at P.G. Community Pool every Tuesday and Thursday from 1pm-3pm.  The pool is located at 3301 Buchanan Street, Mount Rainier, MD 20712.  Parents must pick up children at the pool by 3:00 pm unless enrolled in after-care.

Registration Information

Enroll your camper online at: Online enrollment only accommodates full tuition payments or a non-refundable $25 deposit per child for each camp.

Return forms by mail to 3309 Bunker Hill Road in Mount Rainier, Maryland, 20712, or fax to 301-699-1818, or email to Children are required to have an Emergency, Health Inventory, Permission Slip and Shot Record or Immunization Exception Form.

Payment is due with the submission of camp Registration Form. If you are unable to pay the total costs at once, you may pay a non-refundable $25 deposit per child for each camp. The deposit will hold your child’s slot until June 1 unless an additional payment is made. All camp fees are due by the Monday of the start of each camp. The deposit will be applied to the total cost of camp or forfeited in the event that your child does not attend camp.


If your child will not attend camp and you would like to receive a refund, please send written notice (fax, email or U.S. Mail) by May 29 (registration deadline). You will be charged a $25 for processing fee and other fees may apply.

Joe’s does not process refunds after a camp session starts. If you have extenuating circumstances, please provide written notice of your decision to withdraw your child. We will evaluate each refund request on an individual basis and apply reasonable fees to cover all costs incurred.
