Spend this Valentine’s Day with D.C.’s very own Sweetheart and Prince Grace Award Winning Ballerina, Jenelle Figgins at a workshop sponsored by Vision Contemporary Dance ensemble. The workshop will be held from 2:00-4:00pm on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Joe’s Movement Emporium located at 3309 Bunker Hill Road, Mount Rainier, MD 20712. About Jenelle Figgins
Jenelle Figgins began her training at the historic Jones-Haywood School of Ballet and Duke Ellington School of the Arts. While training, she received scholarships to attend Dance Theatre of Harlem’s Kennedy Center Residency and Summer Intensive. Ms. Figgins went on to attend SUNY Purchase New York on partial scholarship and in 2011 received her B.F.A. with honors in dance. There she danced in works by George Balanchine, Paul Taylor, and Twyla Tharp. Following her graduation she accepted a full scholarship to attend Springboard Danse Montreal under the tutelage of Alexandre Wells and Emily Molnar. She has danced professionally with Hinton Battle, Sidra Bell Dance New York, Mettin Movement, Collage Dance Collective and Les Grands Ballet Canadiens de Montreal. This is her 3rd season with Dance Theatre of Harlem and she is a 2014 Princess Grace Awards Winner.

Vision Contemporary Dance Ensemble is a newly formed performance company for young advanced level dancers ranging from age 10 and up with a prevalent passion and unwavering vision to become professional performing dance artist. Under the guidance and direction of Katherine Smith, young dancers continue to develop their technical and performance skills with opportunities to perform as part of special and seasonal events. VCDE is committed to representing a high level of excellence and artistry, challenging the young dancers dedication and discipline in preparation for the demands of the professional dance industry for and beyond the 21st century. Members have opportunities to experience a diversity of styles and techniques from various local and out of state professional artist through master classes, workshops, seminars and choreography to further nurture their talent and gift.
