A deep look at Rhapsody: A Poetic Movement, coming to Joe’s October 24th & 25th

We got the opportunity to get some burning questions answered by the incredible Vincent Thomas of VT Dance over the weekend in regards to his upcoming show, Rhapsody: A Poetic Movement coming to Joe’s Saturday, October 24th at 8pm and Sunday, October 25th at 4pm.

Tell us which writers inspired this piece and why?

There are several writers/poets who inspired this work. Some are: James Baldwin, Langston Hughes, Maya Angelou, Nikki Giovanni, Robert Frost, Joyce Kilmer, Audre Lorde, Michelle Antoinette (aka Love the Poet)

This is a continuation of the piece you worked on as part of the NextLOOK residency at Joe’s. What’s changed in the piece since then?

There has been a great deal of deepening of the piece, physically as well as connections. I also added a vocalist.

_MAN0864_1If you could get the audience to do anything to prepare for your show, what would it be?

I would love for the audience to read a favorite poem from their childhood and present day. As always, enter the space with an open mind and heart to go on a journey in art.
