Almost Anywhere Book Reading and Launch Party at Joe’s

00026_mn_r15amve7uu70025On February 20, Joe’s Movement Emporium will host noted local author and photographer Krista Schlyer for a reading and launch party for her new book, Almost Anywhere: Road Trip Ruminations on Love, Nature, National Parks and Nonsense.

The book, which was released in October by Skyhorse Publishing, chronicles a year-long road trip to America’s national parks and other wild areas. Schlyer embarked on the journey from Washington DC, on the heels of a gripping loss. She traveled with her two best friends, a grumpy grieving introvert and a mischievous little dog, and together they visited more than 70 national parks all across the United States. With National Park Service centennial in 2016, Almost Anywhere offers insights into the incalculable value of land preservation and ecological understanding.

UTAR_0003_00Craig Childs, award-winning author of House of Rain calls Almost Anywhere “An American map.” National Book Award finalist William Souder says, “Measuring the sharpness of loss against the hugeness of life, Krista Schlyer has found her way, page by page, to a rare state of grace. An amazing book.”

Find out more about Almost Anywhere and hear some stories from the national parks and the open road on February 20. The event is free and open to the public.
