Orange Grove Dance needs YOUR stories

1 MILE RADIUS (No Logo)Orange Grove Dance returns to Joe’s Movement Emporium with their newest project, 1 MILE RADIUS PROJECT-Experiencing Space Differently which will culminate with a performance piece on Friday, April 14th that will begin at 7 pm at Joe’s Movement Emporium, in Mount Rainier, MD move through the neighborhood, and end at Brentwood Arts Exchange in the Gateway Arts Center in Brentwood, MD.

NextLOOK Artist, Orange Grove Dance will be exploring the unique spaces within a one-mile radius of Joe’s Movement Emporium. We are interested in how dance, film, and projection can conduct memory mapping of the less noticed, possibly forgotten parts of our seemingly familiar spaces. We want to zoom into and magnify the intimate nooks and over stepped crevices of the area.

Send videos, pictures, and stories of the spaces you love or notice. What makes home? How do you move through it?

Before and after photos of spaces and people are also great. What was it like then and how is it now?

Through sidewalk chats, interviews, movement, and film collaborations, we have set out to create art and dialogue which will memory map the collective and personal experiences of the neighborhood space. WE NEED YOU!

BE A PART OF THIS COMMUNITY CURATION! If you have a connection within the Joe’s/Mt. Ranier/Brentwood 1 mile radius, we want you involved. Contact Orange Grove Dance, Joe’s, or Brentwood Arts to schedule an interview, or share an idea of how you would like to be involved.

What is your favorite place in the neighborhood?
How do you get there?
Why is that place special to you?
