Joe’s staff are putting their 10-class passes to work to get fit and feel fabulous for beach season!

Looking for new ways to move at Joe’s? We’ve got two BRAND NEW classes with INCREDIBLE instructors who are ready to take you from winter flubber to a summer beach bod!

A warm welcome to Ty Powell and Monica Brinn to the Joe’s family. Ty and Monica’s classes will be on the Joe’s 10-class pass system. This means if you already have a 10-class pass, it’ll be easy to try these new gut busting and butt shaping classes. If you don’t have a 10-class pass, we recommend you get one, immediately.

MONDAYS AT 6:30 PM
THURSDAYS AT 6 PM

This full body workout is designed to strengthen muscles, increase flexibility, and improve overall health. It is performed on a yoga mat, with low impact, aimed to protect your joints and muscles from the pounding of other exercises. The interval aspect of this workout helps keeps your heart rate up and allows you to engage in a great cardio/full-body workout.

Ty tells us, “we play music, I encourage people to dance, smile, encourage others near them, and most importantly, to have fun and run their own race.”

TUESDAYS AT 6:30 PM

Hatha-Vinyasa Yoga and Pilates fusion classes are suitable to all levels, and instruction will include variations to challenge more intermediate students and to develop more beginner students.

If you have never practiced yoga, please feel free to begin your journey here! If you have been practicing for years, please come to continue your journey, and to deepen your practice. Classes will include breath integration, deep stretching, balance and core work, sun salutations, a variety of postures and relaxation.

Spring into Aerial at Joe’s – Registration Open!

Spring 2017 Classes

WE NOW OFFER ONLINE REGISTRATION! Register online for private lessons and group classes at upspringstudio.com/classes. Please be sure to read our important information for students prior to signing up.

Aerial Foundations – Sundays 2-3pm

This class, for students of all levels, covers fundamental aerial skills on a variety of apparatus. Instructors will work with students to break down basic aerial skills into critical components with the goal of improving technique. Topics may include climbing fabric, improving flexibility, perfecting trapeze mounts, training for inversions, and many other important skills.

Aerial Yoga – Mondays 12-1pm through May 22nd

This gentle class will help students build strength and flexibility. This class is for students of any age and ability and will be taught on low-hanging aerial hammocks. No prior experience is necessary. (Note: This class will be on hiatus June through August but will return in September 2017. Students are invited to try one of our other classes during the break!)

Aerial Dance – Wednesdays 8:30-9:30pm – starts March 8th

In this class, students will learn a short, simple sequence on dance trapeze and/or aerial hammock. Students explore tools for expanding and deepening the sequence, then use those tools to modify their sequence and create original aerial work. This class is for all levels, and no prior aerial dance experience is necessary. Students continuing from a prior session of Aerial Dance will have the option to continue their previous work or start something new. (Please note that this class focuses on creative expression and is taught on low-to-the-ground apparatus. Those who are interested in learning more intense or advanced aerial technique should also register for Aerial Fundamentals or private lessons.) 

Dance Trapeze Mini-Session – Sundays 2-3pm – dates TBD

In this 3-week mini session, students will learn dance trapeze conditioning techniques and new tricks and transitions. This mini-session is open to all but is best for students who have taken at least one aerial class. Intermediate trapeze students looking to strengthen and expand dance trapeze skills are also encouraged to sign up. Students will walk away from this mini-session with a dance trapeze sequence. This mini-session is offered as part of Aerial Foundations, so students who are already taking that class need not sign up separately. We anticipate offering the next mini-session in late April/early May. Stay tuned for dates!

Private Lessons – Sundays 12-2pm, Mondays 11am-12pm

Private lessons are offered in one-hour blocks on Sundays and Mondays. Apparatus includes fabrics, trapeze, aerial hammock, and lyra. Private lessons can also be arranged for groups of 3-6 students. Beginners welcome. Email upspringstudio@gmail.com to inquire about availability.

Fabric Workshops with Kate Winston

Join us in March and April for the next two installments of Kate Winston’s fabulous fabrics workshops! Kate’s workshops are valuable because she explores individual topics in depth to allow for greater understanding of variations and progressions. These workshops are for students who are comfortable climbing fabric and remaining in the air for a few minutes at a time. The March installment will focus on progressions to inversions. The topic for the April workshop is TBD. Click here to register. 

Poi Workshops with Charlotte Byram

Love the circus but prefer to keep your feet the ground? Try our upcoming poiworkshop with poi master Charlotte Byram. This workshop will begin by giving you a solid grounding in the world of poi, introducing students to skills such as momentum manipulation and not hitting oneself in the face. Additional tricks may include “weaving,” the “butterfly,” and the “corkscrew,” among others. Lessons are open to any adult with any level of physicality. All you need is a willingness to have fun! March 12th and 19th. Click here to register.

Free open hangs are for students who need to make up missed lessons. Students will be given the opportunity to work on their own to review skills they have been taught by an UpSpring instructor. No instruction will be provided. Students are not to use this time to teach each other. Students should email upspringstudio@gmail.comto request an open hang pass. There are a limited number of passes available.
