As a Joe’s class, all 10-class pass holders will be able to use their pass to participate in Powell’s class. Drop in rate remains $13 for adults and $10 for seniors.
Why fuse yoga and pilates in one class?
After over 10 years of practicing both yoga and pilates, Brinn felt a Hatha-Vinyasa Yoga and Pilates fusion classes a natural combination. The class is suitable for all levels, and instruction will include variations to challenge more intermediate students and to develop more beginner students.
Even if you have never practiced yoga, you can begin your journey here! Or if you have been practicing for years, continue your journey and to deepen your practice here.
Brinn has particular interest in back and knee health and her classes will always focus on alignment and safety. Classes will include breath integration, deep stretching, balance and core work, sun salutations, a variety of postures and relaxation.
This is an active class with the goal of improved strength, flexibility, focus and overall physical and mental health. (Note: This practice is not appropriate for women in their second or third trimester of pregnancy.)
Meet Monica below:
Monica Brinn is a 500-hour certified yoga teacher specializing in Hatha-Vinyasa style yoga. She has been practicing some form of yoga or Pilates for over 10 years. Because of years Pilates practice she incorporates core work into her yoga teaching; and because she has practiced and studied Iyengar yoga with an emphasis on back health, she is heavily focused on alignment. Monica received her most recent certification at the Association for Yoga and Meditation in Rishikesh, India. She grew up mostly in Virgina, but lived up and down the east coast from Massachusetts to Florida. After five years in California, she headed overseas, and she has lived in three countries in the past 9 years. Now, she is thrilled to be settling for a while her in Mt Rainier and the DC area.
